Limpopo College of Nursing Opens 2027 Student Nurse Training for 3-Year Diploma in Nursing

The Limpopo Department of Health has opened applications for 2027 Student Nurse Training at Limpopo College of Nursing, offering entry into the three-year Diploma in Nursing: General under R.171. Applications close on 30 November 2026.

Applications are available across Capricorn, Mopani, Sekhukhune, Vhembe and Waterberg districts, with a separate reference number and online application route for each district.

What nursing programme is available for 2027?

The intake is for the Diploma in Nursing: General, a three-year nursing programme offered under Government Notice R.171 of 8 March 2013.

The programme is intended for candidates who want to train toward a professional nursing career through Limpopo College of Nursing.

Which districts are accepting applications?

Applicants can apply through one of five district routes:

  • Capricorn: Reference LDH/10/006
  • Mopani: Reference LDH/10/007
  • Sekhukhune: Reference LDH/10/008
  • Vhembe: Reference LDH/10/009
  • Waterberg: Reference LDH/10/0010

Each district has its own online upload route for the 2027 Student Nurse Training intake.

What documents do you need?

Your application should include:

  • Completed application form
  • Completed rating scale
  • Certified copy of your Matric or National Senior Certificate
  • Certified copies of other educational qualifications
  • Proof of residence
  • Certified copy of your Identity Document

Applicants must also quote the Departmental Circular Number on the Departmental Registration Form as the reference number.

Where do you get the application forms?

Limpopo College of Nursing provides separate documents for the application process, including:

  • R.171 LCN Application Form and Rating Scale for 2027
  • R.171 Revised Prospectus
  • LCN Recognition of Prior Learning Application Form for study-leave candidates

Applications are completed and submitted online.

Who needs to complete the RPL form?

Enrolled Nurses who are employed by the Department and applying through the study-leave route must complete the Recognition of Prior Learning form.

Is there an application fee?

The circular states that applicants must pay a non-refundable administration fee of R150 and attach proof of payment to the application form. Banking details are provided in the prospectus.

The same circular also separately states that no payment of any kind is required when applying to be registered for training as a nurse at Limpopo College of Nursing. Applicants should therefore follow the payment instructions in the current prospectus and official college application materials carefully.

What academic requirements are needed?

The circular confirms that applicants must submit their educational qualifications, including Matric or a National Senior Certificate, but it does not set out detailed subject, achievement-level or points requirements in the two-page notice.

Applicants should use the R.171 Revised Prospectus for the full admission criteria before completing an application.

How will selection work?

Limpopo College of Nursing reserves the right to select or not select an applicant.

Only selected candidates will receive correspondence. If you have not heard from the College by the end of February 2027, you should regard your application as unsuccessful.

When do applications close?

Applications close on 30 November 2026.

Applicants should allow enough time to obtain certified documents, complete the application and rating-scale forms, follow the correct district route and submit all required documents before the deadline.

First download and complete the R.171 LCN Application Form and Rating Scale for 2027 and consult the R.171 Revised Prospectus. If you are an eligible study-leave candidate, complete the RPL form as well.
