About the Programme

The SAB Graduate Procurement Training Programme offers a structured development journey consisting of two progressive phases:

  • Phase 1 (Band VIII 9 months): Foundational training through real projects, mentoring, and evaluations.
  • Phase 2 (Band VII 12 to 18 months): Advanced placement for high-performing graduates, offering greater leadership exposure and strategic responsibility.

Progression to Phase 2 is performance-based, ensuring that only the most committed and capable trainees move forward.

The programme is built on the 70-20-10 learning principle:

  • 70% from on-the-job challenges and real-world projects,
  • 20% from mentorship and collaboration, and
  • 10% from formal training and coursework.

This blended learning model ensures you develop both technical proficiency and leadership capability.

Key Responsibilities

As a Graduate Trainee in Procurement, you’ll be immersed in practical business operations while supporting the strategic direction of SAB. Your core duties will include:

  • Driving category management and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Supporting category managers and directors with sourcing and supplier strategies.
  • Conducting market trend and spend analyses to identify business opportunities.
  • Applying SAB’s 8-step sourcing methodology to manage procurement activities.
  • Performing process optimization reviews and presenting actionable insights.
  • Ensuring product and service alignment with business specifications.

This hands-on exposure provides the foundation to thrive in a high-performance, global business environment.
