Gauteng Tourism Authority Opens Digital Media and Content Production Opportunities

Graduates in digital media, design, photography, video, marketing and communications can apply for two 24-month opportunities with the Gauteng Tourism Authority.
The work focuses on digital storytelling, destination marketing, social media, photography, videography, website content and multimedia production for Gauteng tourism campaigns.
Both positions offer a monthly stipend of R6,000 to R7,000 and applications close on 18 September 2026 at 16:00.

These tools are widely used across digital marketing, design, video production and social media work.

How does digital marketing fit into the work?
The position is not only about making graphics or videos.
Part of the work involves helping GTA understand how digital content performs.
You may assist with tracking audience engagement, campaign results and online activity, then use that information to improve future content.
That introduces useful experience in:
- Digital analytics
- Social media performance
- Content strategy
- Audience growth
- Campaign reporting
- Online publishing
These skills are increasingly important in marketing because strong content also needs to reach the right audience and produce measurable results.

Why is tourism content different?
Tourism marketing depends heavily on visual storytelling.
People often decide where to travel based on what they see in photographs, videos, social media posts and online campaigns.
GTA therefore needs content that can present Gauteng attractions, events and experiences in a way that feels current and engaging.
For young creatives, this gives the work a practical commercial purpose. You are not creating content only for practice. The content supports destination marketing and audience growth.
What happens to the content you create?
The Multimedia Visual Content Creator will also help maintain GTA’s digital content bank, photo library and video archive.
This means organising visual assets so they can be used again for campaigns, media requests and future tourism promotion.
That experience is useful because professional content work often includes both production and digital asset management.
Who should apply?
The strongest candidates are graduates who enjoy creating content and are comfortable learning across different digital formats.
You should consider applying if you are interested in:
- Graphic design
- Social media
- Photography
