The constitutional mandate of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) includes:
- Making laws that address provincial needs
- Conducting oversight over the Executive to ensure service delivery
- Promoting Cooperative Governance for effective decision-making
- Conducting Public Participation to ensure that the views of the people of Gauteng are incorporated in governance processes

Purpose
The GPL Internship Programme aims to assist graduates and qualified individuals in gaining workplace experience, contributing to the upskilling of individuals as per the Skills Development Act. The programme duration is a 24-month fixed-term contract.

Compulsory Requirements
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Applicant must be between the age of 18-35.

- Must have no previous criminal convictions or pending cases.
- Must have never been employed in the field of the advertised post and never participated in an Internship Programme.
- Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
