Motus Corporation has opened applications for a Level One Apprenticeship at its Hino dealership in Parow, Western Cape, offering an entry point into diesel mechanic training within the commercial vehicle sector.
The opportunity is based at Motus Hino Parow and falls under the group’s retail division, specifically within the Toyota and Hino business unit. The apprenticeship is aimed at young people who want to build a long-term career as diesel mechanic technicians and are willing to commit to formal apprentice training.
According to the company, the apprentice will work under the supervision of qualified technicians and report directly to the Service Manager. The role focuses on hands-on exposure to commercial vehicle maintenance and repair, combined with prescribed technical training and level-based courses.
Duties include assisting with vehicle repairs, removing and replacing parts, lubricating and changing oils under supervision, fitting filters, batteries and wheels, and supporting general workshop operations. The apprentice will also be expected to maintain a clean work environment, look after tools and equipment, and comply with safety regulations at all times.
Motus has indicated that the position is suited to candidates who show a strong technical interest in vehicles, particularly commercial and diesel-powered models, and who are comfortable working in a workshop environment.
To be considered, applicants must have completed Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics and Physical Science. Candidates with a Technical Matric will be given preference. A valid driver’s licence is listed as an added advantage, while a clear criminal record is required. The company also notes that basic technical ability, good customer orientation and the ability to work well in a team will strengthen an application.
The apprenticeship is offered on a contract basis and is classified at internship level, making it suitable for school leavers seeking structured workplace training in the automotive engineering field.
