Overview:
Old Mutual invites final year and recently graduated students to participate in their in-person Hackathon. This event is designed to inspire and challenge participants to develop innovative solutions and showcase their tech talents. Successful participants will also be considered for the Old Mutual Graduate Programme.
Prizes:
- Total cash prize: R100,000, split equally among the winning team members (5 members per team).
Eligibility:
- Final year or recent graduates with IT, Digital & Data Analytics-related qualifications from a South African university.
- Must have access to a laptop with a working microphone and camera.
- Must be available for the entire duration of the Hackathon.
Graduate Programme: The Graduate Programme is aimed at developing leadership capabilities to meet the future needs of Old Mutual Limited. The programme includes project-based involvement, on-the-job training, and ongoing assessments.

Qualifications for Graduate Programme:
- BCom Information Systems
- BSc IT Systems
- BSc Computer Science
- BSc Computer/Software Engineering
- BCom in Business/Finance with Technology modules
- Diploma in IT (3 years)
- Advanced Diploma in IT
- BSc Data Science
Minimum Requirements:
- South African citizenship or eligibility to work in the country.
- Willingness to relocate within South Africa.
- Minimum 65% average across studies.
- Proficiency in Java, C#, C++, HTML, Python, SQL, JavaScript.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, databases, and web development principles.
- Relevant qualification completed by 31 December 2024.
- Available to commence the programme on 1 February 2025.
Application Process:
- Submit CV, Transcripts, and Grade 12 certificate.
- Complete automated screening questions.
- Complete online screening assessments if requirements are met.
- Participate in Video Interviews if successful in initial assessments.
- Attend in-person assessment centers in Johannesburg, Durban, or Cape Town.
- Qualify and be invited to the Hackathon.
- Post-Hackathon, profiles will be reviewed against Old Mutual’s requirements.
