Canon Collins Trust, in partnership with the Sol Plaatje Educational Project, invites applications for postgraduate study in South Africa for 2025.
The scholarships provide funding for up to two years for Master’s students and up to three years for PhD students, contingent on satisfactory academic progress and reports.
Areas of Study:
In 2025, scholarships will be awarded to those studying in the following areas:
- Justice: Includes Climate Justice, Law, Economics, and Politics
- Education Policy and Practice
- Humanities: Includes Literature, History, Anthropology, and the Arts
- Journalism and Communications
Priority: Climate justice-related applications will be prioritized. These applications can be in a science or applied science field, provided they demonstrate relevance to climate justice matters.
Barton Scholarship for Critical Journalism:
If you are interested in this specific scholarship, you will be considered under the Canon Collins Sol Plaatje Scholarships programme.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be considered for a scholarship, you must:
- Be a national of, or have refugee status in, one of the following countries: Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe.
- Be normally resident in one of the above countries.
- Be in possession of a good first degree (minimum second class, upper division, or equivalent) or about to graduate in the year of application.
- Be studying or applying to study at a South African university.
