Millwright Position Now Open at Qpro Feeds in Vrede – VKB Group

The VKB Group is looking for a skilled Millwright to join their feed production facility in Vrede, Free State. If you’re a qualified artisan with experience in electrical and mechanical systems, this opportunity offers you a long-term role with purpose and impact in South Africa’s agricultural economy.

What This Role Is About

As a Millwright at Qpro Feeds, you’ll be in charge of maintaining and repairing all electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems at the feed mill. You’ll also contribute to preventative maintenance, breakdown analysis, and keeping operations running smoothly with minimal downtime.

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible, you must meet the following:

• Recognised Millwright Trade Certificate issued by QCTO or SETA-accredited institution
• Minimum N3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• At least 3 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing or agricultural environment
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
• Must be able to perform welding and tacking
• Strong understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act
• Basic computer literacy and the ability to work with PLCs (preferably Allen Bradley)
• Familiar with high-voltage connections, VSDs, and related systems
• Willingness to work shifts and standby duty

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with PRAGMA’s OnKey Maintenance System
• Wireman’s Licence (advantageous)
• Mechanical experience is a plus

Key Responsibilities

Here’s what you’ll be doing on a daily basis:

• Install, repair, maintain, and test mechanical and electrical equipment
• Perform fault finding and repairs on plant machinery and systems
• Fabricate and fit parts where needed to reduce downtime
• Carry out preventative maintenance and keep accurate reports
• Handle high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems safely
• Minimise downtime by managing and updating the Critical Spares List
• Support 24/7 operations with standby availability after hours
• Report regularly on breakdowns, downtimes, and equipment performance
