RCL Foods Data Capturer: Engineering and Maintenance Planning

A permanent Data Capturer position is available at RCL Foods in Centurion, with the role focused on engineering administration, maintenance planning and CMMS system support.

The position sits within the Speciality Baking Division and reports to the Plant Engineer. It is suited to someone with an N3 technical qualification, experience using Pragma Onkey and a background in asset care or maintenance planning.

Applications close on 2 September 2026.

What does the role involve?

The Data Capturer supports engineering and maintenance teams by keeping technical information accurate and helping with planning activities.

The work includes capturing engineering data, printing maintenance schedules, creating reports from the CMMS system and supporting maintenance planning queries.

The successful candidate will also work with production and quality teams, making the role broader than basic data entry.

Which systems and tools are important?

Experience with Pragma Onkey is one of the main requirements.

Applicants need at least two years of experience using the system, which is commonly used for maintenance and asset management.

Advanced Microsoft Office skills are also required, particularly in:

  • Excel
  • Outlook
  • PowerPoint
  • Project
  • Word

Strong Excel skills can be especially useful when working with maintenance data, reports and planning information.

What background is required?

Applicants need an N3 technical qualification and at least two years of Pragma Onkey experience.

RCL Foods also requires two to three years of experience in asset and asset care management.

Experience that will strengthen an application includes:

  • A recognised trade test
  • At least two years as a Maintenance Planner in FMCG
  • Auditing experience
  • Two to three years of supervisory experience

This makes the role more suitable for someone with technical maintenance exposure than for a general administrative applicant.

What will the successful candidate do?

The role supports day-to-day maintenance planning and engineering administration.

Key activities include:

  • Capturing engineering data
  • Assisting the Maintenance Planner
  • Printing daily maintenance schedules
  • Raising job cards
  • Reporting on equipment breakdowns and services
  • Producing reports from the CMMS system
  • Keeping machine documentation accurate and up to date
  • Distributing breakdown job cards to foremen and artisans

The successful candidate may also stand in for the Maintenance Planner when needed.

Why is maintenance data important?

Accurate maintenance data helps engineering teams plan work, track equipment problems and understand how assets are performing.

In a manufacturing operation, poor maintenance records can make it harder to schedule repairs, monitor recurring breakdowns or keep equipment running efficiently.

The Data Capturer therefore supports both administration and the wider maintenance process by making sure information is recorded correctly and available to the people who need it.

Who is this role best suited to?

The position is best suited to someone who already understands maintenance systems and engineering support work.

A candidate with an N3 technical qualification, Pragma Onkey experience and exposure to maintenance planning would be more closely aligned with the role than someone whose experience is limited to general data capturing.

Experience in FMCG manufacturing can also be useful because the role operates in a production setting where equipment reliability, maintenance schedules and asset care are closely connected.

Where is the position based?

The role is based in Centurion, Gauteng, within RCL Foods’ Speciality Baking Division.

It is classified as a permanent position.
