What You’ll Be Doing
Your role will be key in producing precision components for industrial use. Here’s what you’ll handle:
- Setting up and operating milling machines based on engineering drawings and technical specs
- Choosing the correct tools, speeds, and feed rates for different materials
- Monitoring machine performance for accuracy and consistency
- Performing maintenance and minor adjustments to keep machines running smoothly
- Inspecting finished components using micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Recording production output and quality checks
- Keeping your workspace clean, safe, and organized
What You’ll Need to Qualify
This role suits someone who’s got both experience and technical confidence.
Minimum requirements:
- Matric / High school certificate
- A trade qualification in Machining, Mechanical Engineering, or Fitting & Turning is highly beneficial
- Proven experience working with milling machines in a production or engineering environment
- Ability to read and work from technical drawings and blueprints
- Knowledge of manual milling is required, CNC milling is an added advantage
- Solid attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and mechanical know-how
