The Centre for Environmental and Occupational Research (CEOHR) at the University of Cape Town’s Faculty of Health Sciences is inviting applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position.
The CEOHR, a recognized research centre since 1994, has concentrated significant expertise in clinical occupational medicine and occupational epidemiology research. The Centre has hosted the SASwiss SARChI in Global Environmental Health since 2015.
Role Description:
The JRF position aims to enhance the Centre’s capacity to investigate gene-environment interactions related to chemical toxicity. The JRF will primarily focus on research output but will also engage in teaching, socially responsive activities, and participate in departmental, faculty, and committee work and administration.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting independent research and contributing to the Centre’s projects.
- Engaging in teaching activities as needed.
- Participating in socially responsive activities.
- Contributing to departmental, faculty, and committee work.
- Administration duties related to research projects.
Requirements:
- Completed 2 years of postdoctoral research experience.
- Emerging academic with the potential to lead independent research projects.
- Strong background in environmental health, occupational health, or related fields.
Funding:
This position is funded by the University of Cape Town’s Research Committee.
