TVET College students and recent graduates who have completed their N4 to N6 theoretical studies can apply for Transnet’s 18-month Work Integrated Learning Programme 2026/2027.

The programme is aimed at unemployed South African youth who need practical workplace experience in fields such as Office Management, Management Assistant and Business Management.

If selected, you will work within Transnet departments and gain experience in administration, reporting, project support, data handling and day-to-day business operations.

How will the programme build on your TVET studies?

The programme gives you a chance to apply what you learned during N4, N5 and N6 in a real working environment.

For example, if you studied Office Management or Management Assistant, you may use skills such as document preparation, record keeping, communication and general office administration.

Business Management participants may gain more exposure to operational support, reporting and broader business processes.

The value comes from turning classroom knowledge into evidence of practical workplace experience.

These skills are useful across many administrative and operational careers, not only within transport and logistics.

What will you learn about Transnet?

Although this is a non-technical programme, you may work in departments that support broader activities across rail, freight, ports and corporate services.

This gives you a chance to understand how administrative and business functions support large-scale operations.

Will you receive mentorship?

The programme includes structured workplace learning, mentorship and development activities.

You may shadow experienced employees, take part in workshops and receive guidance while completing your practical work.

This can help you learn workplace standards more quickly and understand how professional teams manage responsibilities, deadlines and communication.

Which skills will help you succeed?

Transnet is looking for candidates who can communicate clearly, work well with others and pay attention to detail.

Useful strengths include:

  • Written communication
  • Verbal communication
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Teamwork
  • Problem-solving

You should also be comfortable following instructions and completing work accurately under supervision.

  • Project Support
  • Operations Support
  • Reporting
